Strife would cease. Date written: December 23rd, 2007 Scripture ref: Psalm 119:33-40. People will look at this and they say, “Well, they didn't put a bucket full of oil on the guy. I Corinthians 1:13 Was Paul crucified for you? We read in 2 Corinthians 1: “Now it is God who … anointed us … and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” (2 Corinthians 1:21-22). So brothers and sisters don’t always get along. Some of them do not seem appropriate to returning to the land. We are God's dwelling, are we not? Anyone want to sign up for that trip? It is just the natural way of things. I want to give these to you. And it is appropriate for us as Christians because we are brothers and sisters together in Christ. Psalms 133. There are few things as precious in this world as believers living together in unity. There was fair reason. Think soberly. A song of ascents. Now this might come as a surprise to you, but brothers and sisters don’t always get along. Look at verse 1: “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1) Living together in unity is both good and pleasant. [John 17:21]. I think we are done here in Psalm 133. Can we really glorify God when we are so disunited? A. What is the mouth of the garment? We used that as a base to look at unity among the brethren, and we will see, I hope by the end of this sermon, where we fit in bringing unity about. He is not going to force unity upon us if we show that we do not want it, and the natural order of things is that we will disunify further if we do not show Him that we are working toward it. PSALM 133 OVERVIEW.. Title.A Song of Degrees of David. Yes, that’s where GOD commands the blessing, ordains eternal life. That is the blood that the high priest would bring in, to sprinkle on the mercy seat in the Levitical ritual there in Leviticus 16. It would be miles and miles and miles away, and for that dew to roll down Herman, go all the way across the Sea of Galilee, and all the way down Jordan and into the foothills of Judea, and finally up the slope to Zion, to Jerusalem, would be absolutely impossible. Every other phrase in this short psalm amplifies and informs this word. Psalm 120, which details the feelings of the pilgrims as they lived among those who did not share their spirituality, laments the lack of brotherly love found in sinful society (it does have organisations and interest groups, but they are inferior, as far as spiritual benefit is concerned, to the fellowship that believers in Jesus should have with one another). Personally I do not think we alone can do it. He has done it to you personally. The implication obviously is when they are united, when they have unanimity, when they are "at one." Christian unity is a gift from God that comes down to us from heaven through Christ the head of the body by the Holy Spirit indwelling us as believers. Do we not want to be united so that we can all get to that same goal together as the bride of Christ, to be resurrected, to have immortality, and to have eternal life? It will not be that good and pleasant way that occurs when brethren dwell together in unity. .but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. As believers we are united with Christ, and we are filled with the Holy Spirit. I expect however that the psalm's meaning is really what gave her that attraction, and I think that is what it was that also gave her a hope, a goal, and a prayer by what is expressed in it. Oil was a valued commodity in ancient Israel, not for making gasoline or fuel like today, but it was used for cooking and also for moisturizing and refreshing. The word translated “pleasant” is a word that means “beautiful, sweet, or lovely.” In other words, it’s not only good in God’s sight, but it’s good for you too. According to Psalm 133, that’s what the unity of the body of Christ is like. That is the way it is done. These are very well known scriptures. So as the body of Christ, the High Priest, we too have been anointed, just like it says in Psalm 133:2. Zion, in Judea, is in the far south.
